Knowing Your Product, aka Beauty with Integrity

Scruples Hair Care Products...my choice of retail and service product line. That is what this blog is about. Beauty with integrity and why you should use this product.

But, let's back up just a bit, so that I might provide a foundation from which one might understand my reasoning a bit better. I've used, and sold, many other fabulous brands of the professional kind, in the years since 1978, when my first salon ownership became a reality. They all have your hair's best interest at heart, while in their developmental stage. To entice my clients to choose and use, these take home products, I would have the client experience the aroma that each product had been developed with, because each product had individual attributes. Thus, I was able to sell all the different brands. It was how I differentiated the products, knowing that if a client did not like the smell, they most likely would not be a returning purchaser.

But when it came time for our big move from Oklahoma to North Carolina, I knew I had to narrow the volume...significantly. In review of all the products my businesses had sold, had promoted, I found the Scruples Classic and White Tea products, outsold all the rest. A very interesting find. Also, as I did my homework of the area to which we would be moving, I found the beauty industry to be over-saturated, extremely! "Spitting in any direction, you'll most likely hit a hair stylist," was my favorite go-to statement.

Yet, upon examination of the salons in the area to which we would be moving, I could not find ANY that sold (or used, for that matter) Scruples. I'm not saying there aren't any...I just couldn't find them via the internet. Looking back at that time, I'm guessing I really didn't know much about digging deep into cyber space. But now that I'm here, I find my research to be mostly true.

If I had a dime for every time someone has asked me, "Why Scruples?" I'd be a wealthy individual. It's been a while since my last sit-down with you, so I've decided to tackle this question head on. The following is an explanation of how Scruples makes their products, and why they are extraordinary. Take special note of that very first ingredient...mucopolysaccharides, as you read. I think when you finish, you too, will be a sold client and come rushing to choose your product.

Scruples’ Protective Barrier Complex (PBX®) is comprised of four essential ingredients: mucopolysaccharides, UV absorbers, hydrolyzed proteins and silicone conditioners.

Whether your hair is fine, coarse, normal or color treated, PBX® works to replenish moisture and add protein to help maintain elasticity and improve hair’s inner strength – leaving it manageable, healthy and noticeably alluring.

MUCOPOLYSACCHARIDES

add moisture-binding qualities to keep hair flexible, healthy and shiny.

UV ABSORBERS

help protect hair from environmental damage and color fade.

HYDROLYZED PROTEINS

provide hair with strength, body and volume.

SILICONE CONDITIONERS

promote shine for healthy, conditioned hair.

Okay...so that is what makes up the ingredients in the retail products. But why Scruples??? Go into any drugstore, department store, or even WALMART, for crying out loud! And you will see numerous professionally branded hair care products. And no, it's not because Walmart owns a salon. They do not own Smart Styles. They lease to Smart Styles. Look hard, now. You won't see a Scruples product on their shelves. Here is an quote from Scruples website:

"At Scruples, our mission is to empower hair professionals with smart solutions to exceed customer expectations. Everything we do is designed to help make the hair professional more successful. A family owned and privately operated company since 1983, Scruples is a true professional only, salon exclusive brand that works to improve and retain your residual business - you own it. you build it. you keep it."

So now you know about the manufacturers/developers mission...at least a little bit.

Now, here is info on their Classic Line, the first line they developed.

  • Designed to handle every hair type
  • Gluten-free, paba-free and cruelty-free
  • Gentle and color safe
  • Salon-exclusive, not available in mass retail outlets
  • Established, trusted formulas

The White Tea line? Well, it's the finest investment protection you'll find, and all for your greatest accessory, your hair. Duh...

  •  Contains sulfate-free, fade-resistant technology
  • WHITE TEA restorative complex works to pamper and protect every client’s hair color and texture investment
  • Formulated with Scruples Protective Barrier Complex (PBX®)

I am a true, dyed in the wool, Scruples fan. Can you tell? And I didn't even mention the beauty that comes from their hair color lines. Maybe another time...

But I will say this. Yes, color can lift color. At least if one uses the Scruples Blazing Highlights or Illusionist.

See you soon...

So…You've Been Given Another "New Beginnings"

"Out with the old…in with the new", as they say. As I sit here with my laptop, sipping on morning coffee and nibbling on Poppy Seed Bread that a neighbor brought by yesterday, my mind takes me to the new year. Yes, I know. We still have a week left in 2014. But we are wrapping this one up pretty quickly.

Its been an awesome year for the Lewis'. The business is growing, the family is growing, and we are becoming more involved with community. This was "the year of Meghan" we've been saying. With our youngest daughter's engagement and subsequent marriage, it's been an amazing year! I truly believe the busier I am, the happier I am. Same with you, right?

2014 brought with it some add-on services that got left by the wayside upon our move from Oklahoma to North Carolina. It seemed good that we now begin a gradual scooping in of the needed services…even though I'm still working in such a small space. It's a very comfortable and inviting space, but none-the-less, a tight space. I'm making it work.

We also added a website (just recently), to accommodate the ever emerging internet technology and the need that our clients have to purchase products via internet. Find sales and new products (or the discontinued ones), that's happening at your favorite salon. Anything to save time, right? And sometimes you just need a place to voice your opinion about services and products you've purchased. You can do all these things at www.elementssalonnc.com.

My wish for you, as you enter 2015, is that you prosper financially & that you have many you can truly call "Friend"...that family is close, and there are many favorable opportunities that cross your path.

Thank you to all my clients that have added to my life in 2014…see you soon!

HAPPY (favorable) NEW YEAR!!!
